Houston Area Playgrounds with SHADE!

Houston is about to get HOT again… and you know playground equipment will get really really hot.

So you can still play, here are Houston area parks that are shaded by covers or trees. Scroll to the bottom for the map! (Please tell us what else to add!)

1. Tom Bass Park – 3452 Fellows Rd, Houston, TX 77047 – This park is big and some of the equipment is shaded.

 

2. Bendwood Spark Park – 12700 Kimberley Ln, Houston, TX 77024 – One of the playgrounds is under a roof.

 

3. Challenger Seven Memorial Park – 2301 W Nasa Blvd, Webster, TX 77598 – Much of the play equipment is under big covers.

 

4. Ervan Chew Park – 4502 Dunlavy, Houston, Texas – Playground is shaded by trees. Splashpad is in full sun.

5. Don & Sylvia Collins Park – 6727 Cypresswood Dr, Spring, TX 77379 – The big park has a lot of trees and one of the playgrounds is under a roof.

 

6. Alexander Deussen Park – 12303 Sonnier Street,Houston, TX 77044 – Much of the equipment is under shade tarps.

 

7. Doss Park – 2500 Frick Rd, Houston, TX 77038 – This is a big park and one of the playgrounds is under a roof.

 

8. Feld Park – 6406 Avenue B, Bellaire, Texas – This playground has lots of big trees.

 

9. Fleming Park – 1901 Sunset Blvd, Houston, Texas – This park has wooden equipment and lots of big trees. The slides can still get hot… but you can find shade to play in!

 

10. Frolics Castle – 303 Memorial City Way, Houston, TX 77024 – Located inside the mall, near Sears.

 

11. Hedwig Park – 930 1/2 Corbindale Road, Houston, TX 77024 – This park has lots of equipment and lots of trees.

 

12. Judson Park – 4201 Judson Ave, West University Place, TX 77005 – This park has a lot of big trees. It is not full shade, but there is a lot of shade.

 

13. Lafayette Park – 4337 Lafayette Street, Bellaire, Texas – There are a lot of big trees shading part of this play structure.

 

 

14. Mulberry Park – 700 Mulberry Lane, Bellaire, TX 77401 – The play structures are covered with big tarps.

 

15. Nature Discovery Center – 7112 Newcastle, Bellaire, TX 77401 – There are a lot of trees and the play area has a lot of shade.

 

16. Quillian Center Playground – 10570 Westpark Dr, Houston, TX 77042 – The playground has a shade cover and is free, and open after hours to the public.

 

17. FREE Indoor Playgrounds – There are FREE indoor play places around Houston. Find them HERE!
