    It's waterpark season in Houston!

If you are thinking about going to a big waterpark this summer... but aren't sure which one to try... here's a quick (and rough) overview of the Houston area parks.

Prices vary and rules can change, so always check before you go. Also, if we forgot a park or key piece of information, add it for us!

And for more Houston summer break resources, go HERE!

    (Updated for 2019)

Waterpark Address Distance from Downtown Cost My 2 Cents!
    Wet'n'Wild Splashtown

    Now Hurricane Harbor

21300 Interstate 45 N, Spring, TX 77373 23 miles north $35-$46, Season Passes & Special Deals Available We have not been to Hurricane Harbor... but this is what we found at Wet n Wild!

This is a big waterpark, it is easy to get to and it is fun. There is a lot to do for everyone, but kids over 48" can ride the most slides.

No coolers are allowed but you could go to your car and re-enter the park.. Parking is now $20.

My favorite part about this park is the location and ease of access.

Typhoon Texas 555 Katy Fort Bend Rd, Katy, TX 77494 28 miles west $40,
Season Passes & Special Deals Available
This is a big waterpark... but not huge. There is a lot to do for ages, but I think it is smaller than Schlitterbahn and Hurricane Harbor.

We do like that parking is free.

    No coolers are allowed.

Schlitterbahn Galveston 2109 Lockheed Rd, Galveston, TX 77554 50 miles southeast $39-$53
    Price varies by date.
Season Passes & Special Deals Available
This park is really really big. Big kids can ride the most slides, but there is plenty to do for everyone. You can bring in coolers and parking is free.

    The staff is very friendly.

There are pools for little kids and slides for big kids in every section of the park.

Many of the big slides have spiral ramps rather than steps. This is good for kids that hate the gaps between stair treads.

My favorite part about this park is that parking is free, you can bring in coolers and the staff is very friendly.

Palm Beach at Moody Gardens 1 Hope Blvd, Galveston, TX 77554 50 miles southeast $20-$25,
Season Passes & Special Deals Availalbe
This small park includes a lazy river, wave pool, slides, water playground, splashpad, sandy beach and volleyball court. It is not huge, but it’s a good size for little kids.Only water is allowed in. Coolers must be parked in the picnic spot outside the gates.

My favorite part about this park is the small size for little kids... and being able to play in the sand... but then clean up in the showers and pool before driving home.

    Pirates Bay 5300 E Rd, Baytown, TX 77521 27 miles east $15-$25,
Season Passes & Special Deals Available
We have not spent much time here. Tell us what you think!

Parking is free (and close) and coolers are allowed. A shaved ice truck is in the park.

Splashway Waterpark 5211 Main St, Sheridan, TX 77475 90 miles west $33-40,
Season Passes & Special Deals Available
This park is much bigger than Palm Beach but smaller than Schlitterbahn. It is perfect for families. There are big slides but there is not tons of walking and most of the slides are for 42" and taller (and not 48" and over).

You can bring coolers, you can grill your lunch, parking is free and you can rent a cabin or campsite for an overnight stay.

This park is the farthest from downtown Houston, but we love it. For families, it is great. The people are friendly, there are frequent announcements telling kids to check in with their parents and there is plenty to do for all ages.

Hurricane Harbor is now $20 to park. But, if you get a season pass or a "membership" parking is free. The membership is great because you pay a small monthly fee and you get to use it at other Six Flags parks. Is well worth the money if you plan on visiting more than one park.
