I’m sorta cool at Pokéworks

by Jill Jarvis Leave a Comment

Address: 2055 Westheimer Rd #100, Houston, TX 77098 (and other locations)

My tween thinks I’m just a little cool, now that I’ve taken him to Pokéworks.

I had just him after rugby practice and we decided to find the trendiest quick dinner around Montrose. And I think we did pretty well with poké.

Poké is basically a rice bowl… or like sushi, in a bowl. At Pokéworks, you order at the counter and can pick an item off the menu or create your own.

You can make a bowl, burrito (which is like a big piece of sushi wrapped in nori) or salad.

Similar to Salata (for salads, not poké), you get to pick lots of toppings and only get charged extra for the premium items (like avocado).

Bowls are $11-13… but they are fresh and delicious. The food is fast… but much healthier and tastier than most fast food!

You can get raw and cooked fish… plus chicken and tofu.

My son was pretty pleased with his food and sorta cool mom… and thought we should celebrate with bubble tea next door at the Teahouse.

I know just what it’s like to be overwhelmed by work, life and family. I spent a lot of years traveling for work, missing big milestones for my kids and feeling bad about everything.

I started this website to make a list of all the events happening around Houston and then pick one to enjoy with my kids. And instead of thinking of all the things I was missing, I started to enjoy the things we were doing together.

If you are a parent that is feeling overwhelmed by all the things you could be doing in Houston… please just use our weekly lists and daily posts as suggestions. Pick one thing to do with your family and intentionally ignore the rest!
