At BigKidSmallCity, we believe the more we know about the people of Houston, the smaller our city feels. And who better to meet than a Native Houstonian connecting parents to great summer camps and activities?!
My husband and I are native Houstonians. He went to St. Johns, Episcopal High School and University of Houston and I went to Clear Lake High School and Rice University. We love Houston and have currently moved to Palo Alto, CA for Camperoo, but visit Houston at least once a month!
I started Camperoo after working in the specialty day camps industry for 12 years. Parents kept lamenting to me about how difficult it was to schedule, plan, and find awesome summer camps for their kids. Then when I went to camp events, the organizers were always trading ways to reach more parents. I thought, why not connect them both with Camperoo and make things simpler for both sides.
In Houston, I love all the diversity of people from around the world, the true integration of lots of cultures, and definitely LOVE the food.
The Museum of Natural Science and Hermann Park never fail. There's always a great new exhibit and tons of greenspace in the park to play and picnic.
My favorite event is the Bayou City Art Festival at Memorial Park. It''s a great place to meet artists and be outside.
