Also on Saturday, take the kids to the Chinese New Year Festival at the Mandarin Chinese Language Immersion School. The event includes dragon dances, cultural crafts and games. Attendance is free and the games (like bounce houses) take tickets.
On Sunday, attend one of my favorite Houston events… the Bayou Bend Family Day. This month the theme is Our Classical Past! The event is free and getting there is half the fun. Park in the lot and cross the bayou on the bouncy suspension bridge. Once on the property you can walk through the garden trails, see the mansion, listen to music, make crafts and more!
Also on Sunday, join me for the Chicken Soup Cook-off at Congregation Emanu El! More than 40 of Houston’s Top Restaurants of all Cuisines including: American, Italian, Japanese, Thai and Jewish Deli! Your ticket allows you to sample an unlimited number of gourmet soups from all of our participating restaurants (and these are well-known restaurants!). I have the great honor of being a judge, so please come say “hello”!
If you are a Sound of Music fan, take the kids to Hobby Center all weekend long!
