The Friends of Mandell Park is hosting the annual plant sale on March 24, 2012 at 9:00am. Each year there are plants to buy, food to eat (usually El Pueblito breakfast tacos) and activities for the kids.
Mandell Park is just over 1 acre of land between Bonnie Brae, Mandell and Richmond Streets in Montrose/Museum District. In the 1980’s, the City purchased and cleared the land to build a public library. When a new location was found, the land became an abandoned lot. The Castle Court Neighborhood Association adopted the neighborhood and worked to renew the eyesore. Since then, Friends of Mandell Park was created to improve the property. Money from the sale goes toward the long term goal of raising $1,000,000. The plans for the park can be found HERE.
