This is Felicia! My girls and I love exploring Houston and we love to read. You can be sure that we have a book packed for where ever we go.
This review is of That’s Disgusting! by Francesco Pittau and Bernadette Gervais.
Warning: Not for the squeamish, the faint of heart, or easily offended!
Do your kids have a sense of humor? More importantly, do you? I guarantee that you will be rereading this book aloud over and over again.
This book is one of our all time favorites even though it is, well, disgusting. To both my children’s delight, it contains phrases such as: “Smelling a sock… that’s disgusting!”, “Pooping in the bathtub…that’s disgusting!”, and “Sticking your finger in a cat’s behind…that’s disgusting!”. As I mentioned before, this book is not for the easily offended.
I strongly feel that this particular book should be read through children’s eyes and should be discussed, but I also do feel as though it is safe to leave lying around the house. My family, especially my husband, has enjoyed this book so much, that we have just ordered a follow up book by the same author and illustrator duo called, That’s Dangerous!. I absolutely cannot wait to see what Pittau and Gervais think is dangerous for my 5 and 7 year old.
