Rice Book Sale – The Friends of Fondren Library – December 1, 2, 3
The annual Rice Book Sale is going on now. The preview night was tonight and cost $10 per person. Friday and Saturday the sale is open to the public for free.
Friday, December 2 – 10:00am – 6:00pm
Saturday, December 3 – 10:00am – 5:00pm
The sale is being held in Grand Hall, Rice Memorial Center at Rice University. Parking is a little tricky on the Rice campus and the best bet is ride a bike or walk. Of course, if you plan to buy a lot of books or are hauling kids around, you may need your car.
We attended tonight and parked in the Palmer Church parking lot on Main Street, which has free 3 hour parking, and walked through the Rice campus. It’s not close, but it worked for us. Check the campus map HERE.
The sale has children’s books, fiction, nonfiction, literature, poetry, foreign-language books, architecture books, cookbooks, hobby and gardening books. It’s not nearly as large as the public library annual book sale, but we were able to find a several books we wanted. Hardcovers are $2.00. Paperbacks are $0.50. All items are available for purchase by cash, checks and major credit cards.
